Blogging on books

I found this book to be a very interesting and quick read. It's a true story of a psychiatrist and his patient, whom he treats using past life therapy and how it changes both of their lives.

Avitars

You sure can get carried away creating an avitar. There are way too many choices and I could have spent more time playing around with it.

Conclusions

Yes, I would particpate in another discovery program.

I wish I could of had more time to explore and play with some of the tools, but now that I have had an introduction to them I hope to make some time to explore further. I hope that I can take some of the tools we learned about and continue to use them to learn more and build on what I've learned.

Wikis

I can see where wikis could be very useful for the sharing of information, seek help and learning about what works in other libraries. I think that it would be a great way to get feedback from programming and a useful tool for use in training, especially if it's hard to get all employees on different shifts to meet at the same time .

I found the Montana Book Club wiki very interesting. How come there isn't a list of Montana fiction?

A Lively Read with Brutus

Here are Brutus, Kira Sue and Betty Boop reading at the Library.
Uploading the picture was pretty easy, but it took me a little bit of time to figure out how to get to my blog. After I figured that out than it was fast and kind of fun. It would be a good way to share pictures with friends and family.

Tagging and Social Bookmarking

I can see where tagging could be useful, especially if you use more than one computer. By tagging your favorite sites, you would always have access to them without having to remember them or have them written down somewhere. Tagging would also make it easier to share your information with others who are interested in the same things you are, or who are researching the same topic. Even advertisers could make use of tagging to sell or launch a product of interest to a particular group or profession.

YouTube

There are some good instruction videos out there covering everything from mending and covering a book to hobbies and crafts. However, there are also some which are no help at all, such as this:

A person could spend hours just looking around. The library dominoes was amusing as were some of the other domino videos. YouTube has its place, but you still have to be aware that everything is not necessarily as it appears.

Podcasts

Wow! There's a whole lot of information out there on almost any subject you can think of.

Since we aren't allowed to download any software to our workstations without permission, I used the PodcastAlley directory and found a podcast on quilting to which I subscribed. The book review section has a category for any interest. You could use podcasting in so many ways, keeping up with what's current, information on topics such as health and news, you could even put programing and events on a podcast, the uses are almost endless.

Recent reads

Librarything is pretty neat. It would be an easy way to keep track of your library and everything you've read. You can also so see how many others like the same books you do

My creation using Framer

I enjoyed playing with some of the different sites. But had some trouble getting a couple of them to work such as word cloud. I am using the computer at work and some of the software hasn't been loaded.

I really liked this picture using Framer.

RSS Feeds

Finished my feeds last wee, but ran out of time to blog about it.
The first couple were hit and miss, but after reviewing the lesson the rest went pretty smoothly. Ordinarily I wouldn't have a need for the feeds, but I can see where it could be useful for someone who wanted to keep up with news and personal contacts.

Blogs

Today I played with some of the settings and layout. Still not very good, but things are starting to make more sense. By the end of the class I be doing this like a pro!

Lesson 1

Time will be a big factor, but I've decided that Fridays will be class day.
